Ethereum Approaches Records: Active Trades by Major Investors

Recent events surrounding Ethereum show increased trading activity and investor engagement as prices approach all-time highs. Some major players are cashing out profits while others continue to accumulate assets.

Early Investor Profits

Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain reported that an original Ethereum ICO participant liquidated 4,283 ETH worth nearly $18.7 million. This whale, who initially invested $31,000 to acquire 100,000 ETH during the early stages, successfully sold 44,284 ETH totaling $105 million at an average price of $2,378, retaining 55,716 ETH valued at $261.6 million. The investor's total profit amounted to approximately $366.8 million, marking an extraordinary 11,835x return on the original investment.

Profits from Stolen Funds

Criminal actors have also profited from Ethereum's price appreciation. The North Korean group UNC4736, responsible for an attack on Radiant Capital, demonstrated how to turn stolen funds into profits. Initially stealing $53 million, the group converted the entire amount into 21,957 ETH, selling 9,631 ETH for $43.9 million at $4,562 per token. The remaining holdings of 12,326 ETH are worth approximately $58.6 million, effectively doubling their illicit gains to $102.54 million for a profit of $49.5 million, representing a 93.5% increase.

Institutional Buyers Enter Market

While some investors are realizing profits, others are entering positions at elevated price levels. On-chain analyst EmberCN tracked one whale who reversed course after initially selling holdings. Last week, this investor traded 10,256 ETH for 39.336 million Tether but returned to purchase 10,730 ETH using 50.596 million USDT at an average price of $4,715. A mysterious institutional buyer also demonstrated aggressive accumulation patterns, purchasing 33,402 ETH through two separate wallets, indicating strong institutional interest in Ethereum.

Ethereum's trading dynamics near record highs create mixed signals in the market, with significant actions from large investors cashing out profits and institutional buyers confidently accumulating assets. This suggests complex market conditions and ongoing confidence in Ethereum's future prospects.
