In recent months, Ferrari has been under scrutiny in the cryptocurrency community regarding the acceptance of new digital assets, prominently including XRP.
Ferrari’s Official Cryptocurrency Payment Rollout
Ferrari has officially confirmed that it has started accepting cryptocurrency payments in select markets. In October 2023, the company announced that customers in the U.S. could purchase vehicles using Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USD Coin (USDC) via BitPay, a leading crypto payment processor. The program expanded to some European dealerships in early 2024.
XRP’s Potential Path to Inclusion
Although Ferrari's official announcements do not mention XRP, the partnership with BitPay renders its acceptance technically plausible. BitPay currently supports XRP payments, allowing merchants to receive the cryptocurrency while converting it to fiat instantly, simplifying the process for dealers.
Distinguishing Fact from Speculation
Despite the plausibility, it is crucial to note that the inclusion of XRP in Ferrari’s payment program has not been confirmed by either the company or BitPay. Major media outlets covering the crypto payment rollout cite only Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC, suggesting that current claims should be viewed with caution.
If Ferrari does indeed accept XRP, it would mark a significant milestone for both the brand and the cryptocurrency market. However, until official confirmation is received, interested parties should remain vigilant for updates.
