Bitplanet has announced the launch of its first Bitcoin treasury, allocating $40 million for BTC investments. This event reflects the growing interest in cryptocurrency among companies in Asia.
Bitplanet's Investment in Bitcoin
At Bitcoin Asia 2025, Paul Lee, co-founder and managing partner of Lobo Ventures, revealed that Bitplanet will allocate $40 million to Bitcoin as part of its treasury strategy. The funds will be deployed immediately upon launch.
Transition from SGA to Bitplanet
The transition from SGA to Bitplanet marks a pivot towards digital asset management and institutional custody solutions. Asia Strategy Partners, now the largest shareholder, is expected to guide the company’s treasury operations and help develop new Bitcoin-based financial products.
Growing Interest in Bitcoin in Korea
Bitplanet’s launch adds to a wave of corporate Bitcoin activity in the region. In July, Nasdaq-listed K Wave Media secured $1 billion to establish its own Bitcoin treasury, while Japanese firm Metaplanet continues to expand its holdings, announcing plans this week to raise $881 million for additional BTC purchases.
These developments indicate a growing interest in Bitcoin-based solutions in South Korea, potentially positioning the country as a major hub for institutional cryptocurrency adoption.
