Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, has reached a new milestone in the App Store following the launch of its XRP-based credit card.
App Rankings and XRP Credit Card
According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, the Gemini app ranked 16th in the U.S. finance category, overtaking Coinbase, which sits at 20th. The new XRP rewards credit card was developed in partnership with Ripple Labs and Mastercard, offering users up to 4% cashback in XRP.
Tyler Winklevoss Comments
Tyler Winklevoss remarked that the milestone proves the 'flippening is accelerating' within the industry. His post quickly gained traction across the crypto community.
Coinbase Trading Volumes and Gemini IPO
Despite the app ranking success, Coinbase still far outpaces Gemini in trading volume. Data from CoinMarketCap shows Coinbase processed $4.54 billion in trades over the last 24 hours, while Gemini handled only $382.49 million. Meanwhile, Gemini is preparing for a public listing on Nasdaq, having filed with the SEC and secured a $75 million credit line from Ripple.
Gemini is achieving success in app rankings through innovative offerings, but it still has a long way to go to match similar trading successes in the cryptocurrency market.
