On September 20, the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was hacked by individuals using it to promote the XRP cryptocurrency.

YouTube Channel Hack

On September 20, the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was hacked for a scam. Videos promoting Ripple’s cryptocurrency, XRP, were posted to deceive viewers into participating in the scam. A blank video titled “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP Price Prediction” was streamed to mislead viewers.

Phishing Tactics

The videos included phishing links that, when clicked, urged users to connect their crypto wallets. Upon approval, the hackers could fully access the wallet and withdraw funds without needing further authentication.

Channel Removal

YouTube removed the channel after the hack because it violated their community guidelines. Before the hack, the channel had over 217,000 followers and was used to livestream court cases, including constitutional matters and those with public interest. The hackers made these materials private and replaced them with the XRP scam.

This incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures to protect official channels from cybercrimes.
