According to analytics firm Canalys, Huawei claimed the leading position in the Chinese smartphone market in 2025. Apple also shows signs of recovery.
Huawei Claims Leading Position
Huawei demonstrated impressive results thanks to increased smartphone shipments. In the period from April to June, the company shipped approximately 12.2 million devices, leading to a 15% revenue increase compared to last year. The company's market share grew to 18%, marking a first for a tech firm since 2024.
Apple Shows Signs of Recovery
Apple secured the fifth place in the smartphone market ranking, with shipments totaling 10.1 million smartphones, resulting in a 4% increase in annual revenue. However, shipment figures do not directly reflect the number of sold devices.
Competition in China's Smartphone Market
Amid stiff competition from companies like Huawei and Xiaomi, Apple faces challenges and is altering its strategy. The price reduction of the iPhone 16 indicates an effort to bolster its presence in the Chinese market. Nonetheless, Apple's stocks fell by 14.5% in 2025 due to concerns about Chinese supply and the global political landscape.
Huawei maintains its leadership in the Chinese smartphone market, while Apple attempts to recover its position, showing growth in shipments. The competition between companies remains fierce, potentially hindering further growth for both Apple and Huawei.
