Humain, a Saudi Arabian company, has introduced a new conversational AI application designed specifically for Arab and Muslim users. The platform operates on the Allam large language model, which is oriented towards the cultural and linguistic features of the region.
Features of the New Application
Currently, the application is only available in Saudi Arabia but offers Arabic-English bilingual support and recognizes various Arabic dialects, including Egyptian and Lebanese.
Development and Cultural Aspects
Tareq Amin, CEO of Humain, characterized the launch of the platform as a "historic milestone" in the company’s efforts to develop sovereign AI that blends modern technology with cultural values. He noted that the development relied on local talent, with women making up half of the team. The Allam model was trained on the largest Arabic dataset known to date, comprising over eight petabytes of data.
Partnerships and Future of Humain
Humain has secured partnerships with several leading firms, including Amazon Web Services and Nvidia, to establish AI "factories" and enhance cloud services infrastructure. Furthermore, Humain is expanding its operations and plans to significantly increase the capacities of its data centers by 2030.
Humain’s initiative to create an AI application supports the national Vision 2030 strategy aimed at developing local technology capabilities and reducing dependence on oil.
