Ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration, the odds of him establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve have surged to 56%, according to Polymarket data.

Polymarket and Rising Odds

A Polymarket poll with over $2.6 million in assets has revealed that the odds of creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve have reached their highest level since November 7, climbing from this month's low of 23%.

Trump's Strategic Plan

Donald Trump and some of his advisors have embraced the idea of creating a reserve to position the U.S. as the crypto capital of the world, partly by converting seized coins into the reserve. According to BitcoinTreasuries, the U.S. holds 198,109 Bitcoin, valued at over $21 billion.

Challenges in Decision Making

There is a risk that Congress may not approve the creation of such a reserve. Historically, establishing and managing strategic reserves has required both executive and legislative action. This could be complicated by the Republicans' slim majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve remains a contentious issue that requires both executive and legislative approval, complicated by the current political situation in Congress.
