The Indian government has announced plans to integrate blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence into various areas of governance and public services.
Technology Integration Plan
On August 20, plans for the government's integration of AI and blockchain were presented in the Lok Sabha as part of the broader 'Amrit Kaal' vision, extending reforms up to 2047. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada emphasized the focus on building an inclusive and transparent system that reduces regional disparities.
AI and Blockchain in Public Services
Artificial intelligence will be deployed in healthcare and education under the IndiaAI mission, launched in 2024. Blockchain is being piloted for land records in Chandigarh and Telangana, aiming to enhance data security. Additionally, digital trade is evolving through the ONDC network.
Education and Cybersecurity
AKTU has become the first university in India to utilize blockchain for issuing degrees, implementing a system that ensures data security and protection. Concurrently, the government is reinforcing cybersecurity measures by establishing various centers for threat monitoring and data security. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act passed in 2023 provides necessary safeguards for data processing.
The Indian government is taking significant steps to integrate advanced technologies into governance, potentially improving accessibility and security in public services.
