Investors in Solana (SOL)-based memecoins witnessed significant turbulence as a massive sell-off in a particular memecoin led to a sharp decline in its price.

In another concerning development within the Memecoin market, a case of insider trading unfolded, affecting the SOL-based memecoin known as SPIKE, which experienced a staggering 95% drop in its value.

Reports from Lookonchain highlighted that individuals with privileged information about the memecoin SPIKE swiftly initiated a frenzy of token sales shortly following the token's launch. These insiders accumulated substantial amounts of SPIKE across various wallets and promptly offloaded 292.95 million SPIKE tokens, representing a substantial 29.3% of the total supply, for an equivalent of SOL 7,056 (approx. $1.06 million).

This surge in sales had an immediate impact, causing the price of SPIKE to plummet by 95% in a remarkably short period. Currently, SPIKE is trading at a mere $0.00887, marking a sharp decline of 78.8% within the past 24 hours.
