What is Cronos zkEVM?
Cronos zkEVM stands as a next-generation blockchain network integrated within the ZK Chain ecosystem powered by ZKsync's technology. It links to the Ethereum Mainnet through a shared bridge, leveraging Ethereum's user base and security while incorporating zkSync's functionalities for secure and efficient cross-chain operations.
Within the broader Cronos ecosystem, Cronos zkEVM operates in conjunction with the Cronos EVM blockchain and the Cronos POS Chain. The introduction of Cronos zkEVM is focused on addressing high-performance and high-throughput DeFi (Decentralized Finance) applications, complementing the existing Cronos chains without rendering them obsolete.
Cronos zkEVM will offer yield-bearing tokens like zkCRO, vETH, and vUSD powered by Veno Finance. This unique approach distinguishes Cronos zkEVM from other platforms where holding tokens within dapps often means missing out on staking rewards.
By holding yield-bearing tokens, users can access staking yields, stablecoin savings yields, and engage in DeFi protocols, enabling them to earn rewards through a concept termed "Triple Yield."
