In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prince Ogbonna faced challenges with sending international payments in Nigeria. These issues laid the foundation for the creation of iPayBTC—a platform aimed at easing financial transactions.
Familiar Problems with International Payments
In 2020, Prince Ogbonna noticed that international payments for many Nigerians were a significant problem: "It was expensive, slow, and very costly," he recalls. Closed banks and the shortcomings of the SWIFT system only exacerbated the situation.
Simplifying Bitcoin Adoption
iPayBTC focuses solely on Bitcoin, emphasizing ease of use for everyday users. "We see Bitcoin as money," explains Ogbonna. He highlights that the platform uses the Lightning Network for near-instant microtransactions, allowing for minimal fees.
iPayBTC's Ambitions in the African Market
Since iPayBTC officially launched in 2023, it has processed over $2 million in transactions. Ogbonna sets out to make iPayBTC the leading Bitcoin payment app across the African continent. "Our goal is to Bitcoinise Africa," he states.
iPayBTC aims to weave Bitcoin into the financial fabric of Africans, striving to make it accessible and beneficial for everyday needs.
