Jump Trading has filed a lawsuit against former engineer Liam Heeger, accusing him of breaching agreements and using intellectual property to launch a new blockchain project.
Details of the Allegations
In a complaint filed in a Chicago federal court, Jump Trading claims that Liam Heeger violated a non-compete agreement by creating a competing business. Jump states that Heeger worked on the Firedancer project, which is a key part of their blockchain developments, and had access to the company's confidential information.
Response from Ex-Engineer
On January 22, Heeger stated in a post that he left the Firedancer project to found Unto Labs, which will work on a new blockchain initiative. However, comments from him or Unto Labs were not available at the time of writing.
Company's Stance and Future Actions
Jump Trading insists on enforcing the non-compete agreement and demands the return of intellectual property, as well as a prohibition on working with Heeger on the new project. It is also reported that Heeger consulted venture capitalists about funding the new business at a conference in Singapore while still employed by Jump Trading.
The legal proceedings between Jump Trading and Liam Heeger will continue. Jump aims to protect its rights and intellectual property in the competitive blockchain industry.
