Most Web3 professionals are optimistic about the industry's future despite potential regulatory changes following the 2024 US presidential elections.
Optimism in Web3 Sector
According to the latest Consensys report, over 86% of Web3 professionals remain optimistic about the industry's future. This widespread optimism is largely attributed to the potential of professionals making a 'true difference in the world' via Web3. Sarah Howe, executive director of talent acquisition at Consensys, highlighted in an interview with Cointelegraph that professionals are driven by the mission of blockchain technology and values such as decentralization, freedom, innovation, transparency, and self-sovereignty. The survey also indicates that over 75% of professionals remain employed in the industry due to the potential of blockchain technology, which is a promising sign for continued innovation in Web3.
Crypto Salary Preferences
While 67% of Web3 professionals are paid solely in fiat, only 30% are comfortable with such payment methods. The survey revealed that 51% of respondents preferred a mixture of fiat and crypto payments, whereas only 13% were comfortable with purely crypto payments. Consensys' survey was conducted by international data analytics group YouGov, which surveyed 30 organizations, including the Ethereum Enterprise Alliance, Blockchain Association, and Texas Blockchain Council.
Digital Nomads in Web3
Aligning with the principles of decentralization, the Web3 workforce is predominantly global, with 77% of respondents identifying as remote workers and only 6% working on-site. Over 75% of respondents considered themselves digital nomads, while over 74% said the ability to work from different countries was important. Sarah Howe explained that Web3 professionals value the independence that a Web3 career brings, and are internally motivated by the ambition to create meaningful change. The flexible nature of Web3 employment opens up new opportunities, such as global job prospects and greater control over employment status.
According to Consensys' report, the majority of Web3 professionals remain optimistic about the industry's future, contributing to further development and innovation in the field. Flexibility in job conditions and the orientation towards a digital nomad lifestyle are becoming key aspects for Web3 professionals.
