Solana users are facing a security threat from a malicious Chrome extension called Bull Checker, according to the decentralized exchange aggregator Jupiter.
The Dangerous Bull Checker Extension
Several subreddits linked to Solana have been targeted by the fraudulent Bull Checker extension. Initially, it appears to be harmless, but its actual goal is to steal users' funds.
How Bull Checker Operates
The Bull Checker extension can read and change all your data on a website, indicating a severe security threat. It modifies dApp transactions and forwards unsigned transactions to a remote server for further tampering and theft.
Warnings for Users
Despite Bull Checker being exposed, there could be other malicious extensions. Users are advised to remain vigilant and uninstall suspicious extensions, especially those requiring extensive permissions. Earlier this year, another malicious extension called Aggr was found to be stealing cryptocurrencies despite having positive reviews in the Chrome Store.
Cryptocurrency platform users should stay alert, check the security of their installed extensions, and immediately remove those that appear suspicious.
