Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is preparing another overhaul of its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives in response to growing demand for the technology.
Meta's AI Restructuring Strategy
According to reports, Meta plans to divide its new AI unit, Superintelligence Labs, into four groups. These include a new group called 'TBD Lab,' a product team focused on the Meta AI assistant, an infrastructure team, and the Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) lab dedicated to advanced research.
Investment in AI and Infrastructure
Zuckerberg stated that heavy investments in AI infrastructure will be central to the company's ambition to become a global leader in the AI ecosystem. Recently, Meta announced a partnership with investment firms to raise over $29 billion to support the building of a data center in Louisiana.
Role of Superintelligence Labs in Meta's AI Strategy
The head of the new division, Alexandr Wang, previously the CEO of Scale AI, will lead Meta's initiatives in this area. The new approach is expected to help the company compete with giants such as Google and OpenAI.
Meta's reorganization of its AI initiatives highlights its commitment to becoming a leading player in the artificial intelligence space within the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
