Meta has unveiled a new tool for sending and receiving Bitcoin in WhatsApp called Sati. This wallet operates without needing to download additional apps, making it convenient for users.
What is Sati?
Sati is a noncustodial wallet that allows users to manage their cryptocurrencies independently. Private keys are not stored by the app, ensuring a high level of security. Users can start by simply messaging a WhatsApp bot, setting a PIN code linked to a unique code from their device.
Benefits of Using Sati in Various Countries
Sati can be particularly beneficial for people in countries like Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, and parts of Africa, where WhatsApp is widely used. These users often face issues like limited access to banks, weak currencies, or dollar shortages. Using Bitcoin provides them with an easier way to store and send money.
Future Features of Sati and User Feedback
Sati plans to implement the ability to swap stablecoins for Bitcoin using the Lightning Network. The team is also working on tools to help users recover access to their wallets. Founder Felipe Servin noted that this solution can help millions in countries with unstable currencies, offering the ability to use Bitcoin for everyday payments.
With the launch of Sati, Meta demonstrates an ambitious step in fintech development, providing users with new opportunities in using cryptocurrencies in daily life.
