Metaplanet, known for its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy, has acquired an additional 463 BTC, bringing their total holdings to 17,595 BTC. CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the latest purchase was made at an average price of $115,895 per Bitcoin, emphasizing the company’s goal to continuously increase Bitcoin per share.
Capital Raise Plan of $3.7 Billion
Just days prior to the latest acquisition, Metaplanet filed a regulatory notice indicating plans to raise up to 555 billion yen (approximately $3.7 billion) through the issuance of new perpetual preferred shares. These funds are intended specifically for fueling their Bitcoin purchasing initiatives.
Market Reaction and Bitcoin Update
Despite the significant acquisition, Metaplanet’s stock fell by 4.7% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Market analysts suggest the decline may be a short-term reaction to the capital raise filing. Meanwhile, Bitcoin traded slightly higher at $114,645, marking a 0.8% gain over the past 24 hours.
