To fund its Bitcoin acquisitions, Metaplanet raised ¥3.73 billion ($25.7 million) through a preferred share offering, promising a 6% annual dividend on those shares. The company has set ambitious Bitcoin acquisition targets: 30,000 BTC by the end of 2025, 100,000 BTC by 2026, and 210,000 BTC by 2027.
Market Impact and Stock Performance
This aggressive Bitcoin strategy has positively impacted Metaplanet's stock, which is up 179% in 2025 and an impressive 1,391% over the past year. In the first quarter of FY2025, the company reported record earnings of ¥877 million ($6.05 million) in revenue and ¥593 million ($4.09 million) in operating profit.
