Japan-based Metaplanet continues its active Bitcoin acquisition strategy, having recently bought BTC worth $11.7 million.
Acquisition of Bitcoin by Metaplanet
CEO Simon Gerovich announced the acquisition of an additional 103 BTC valued at approximately $11.7 million. This brings Metaplanet's total Bitcoin holdings to 18,991 BTC acquired for $1.95 billion.
Year to date (YTD), Metaplanet has achieved a BTC yield of 479.5%. Earlier this year, the company also purchased 463 BTC at $101,422 per coin and added a total of 3,782 BTC worth about $424 million to its balance sheet in July.
Joining the FTSE Japan Index and its Implications
The recent Bitcoin accumulation comes shortly after Metaplanet's inclusion in the flagship FTSE Japan Index. This allows the company to redirect capital flows to Bitcoin from traditional financial markets. A similar strategy was noted with Michael Saylor's company when it was added to the NASDAQ 100 Index.
Long-term Bitcoin Accumulation Plans
Metaplanet aims to accumulate 210,000 BTC by 2027, representing 1% of the total Bitcoin supply of 21 million. This confirms the company's long-term strategy focused on increasing its cryptocurrency portfolio.
Metaplanet is actively expanding its investments in Bitcoin and solidifying its position in global financial markets, creating new opportunities for the company moving forward.
