Mina Coin Set to Upgrade Berkeley Network for Improved Functionality

Apr 4, 2024

Mina Coin, a cryptocurrency with growing potential, is gearing up for a significant network upgrade known as the Berkeley Upgrade. This upgrade is highly anticipated as it is expected to bring key enhancements to the network's functionality. These improvements are crucial for Mina Coin to stay competitive in the market of smart contract platforms.

The upcoming Berkeley Upgrade will introduce three important features: zkApp programmability, the Kimchi proof system, and the removal of Supercharged Rewards. These changes are the result of extensive testing and refinement by contributors to the Mina ecosystem. After completing the Upgrade Mechanism Test, the team will move on to final testing on the Devnet before implementing the upgrade on the mainnet.

Following a 12-hour network downtime, the mainnet transition will take place. o1Labs will oversee the fork block state export and distribute a post-upgrade package along with release notes on GitHub. It is expected that the first block post-upgrade will be generated shortly thereafter.

Investors and users should take note of the potential implications of the Berkeley Upgrade, including improved network functionality, the possibility of a price surge, and the impact of technical developments on the value of Mina Coin. With the discontinuation of Supercharged Rewards, the market price of MINA Coin is expected to be directly affected. Currently trading at around $1.08, the price of MINA Coin is showing positive signs heading into the next quarter. If the upgrade is successful, there is a chance for the price to reach new heights and provide a favorable prospect for investors.
