Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, announced the launch of a new independent infrastructure project for the XRP Ledger, emphasizing that the initiative is not connected to the company's official activities.
Update from David Schwartz
In a recent social media post, David Schwartz provided detailed information about a new project he is working on. He is deploying and managing a standalone server that will function as a high-quality hub to support the XRP Ledger network. Schwartz noted that this project is undertaken in a personal capacity and is not officially affiliated with Ripple.
Server Specifications and Hosting
In his post, Schwartz disclosed the full specifications of the server build. It includes an AMD 9950X CPU, 256GB of RAM, a 2TB SATA SSD for the operating system, and two 2TB NVMe SSDs for data storage. Connectivity will be supported through a 10GB unmetered internet link. The server will be hosted in a data center located in New York City.
Functionality and Future Plans
The project also aims to serve a research purpose, with Schwartz intending to gather data on network behavior and performance. He assured that the server would not be used for disruptive testing unless justified by very unusual circumstances. The server is now operational and synchronized with XRPL, though Schwartz indicated a testing phase is necessary before it can take on more critical roles.
Schwartz's independently operated server aims to enhance the reliability of the XRP Ledger network while providing opportunities for further research. Updates on the project's stabilization are anticipated.
