In July 2025, Nigeria recorded an average of 6,101 cyberattacks per week, representing a 67% increase year-on-year.
Overview of Cyberattacks
According to Check Point Research (CPR), Africa recorded an average of 3,374 weekly cyberattacks per organization. These figures make Africa the leader in the number of attacks globally, with a 7% increase compared to the previous year. 'For organizations in Africa, these figures are particularly concerning. While Africa rapidly rolls out digital transformation strategies, its cybersecurity defenses are lagging. Prevention-first strategies, powered by AI, are the only way to stay ahead,' says Lorna Hardie, Regional Director, Check Point Software Technologies.
Country Comparison
Nigeria showed the highest figures among countries with 6,101 attacks per week per organization, while Angola recorded 3,731 attacks (down 43% YoY), Kenya with 3,468 attacks (25% decrease), and South Africa observed 2,113 attacks (14% increase).
