AI startup OpenAI is in advanced talks to secure $6.5 billion in funding, which would increase its valuation to $150 billion, Bloomberg reports.
Funding and Valuation
According to Bloomberg, the $150 billion valuation does not include the funds being raised. The company is also seeking an additional $5 billion in the form of a revolving credit facility.
Interest of Tech Giants
Thrive Capital is leading the round with $1 billion in funding. Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft are among the interested investors. Microsoft has invested $13 billion in OpenAI since 2019 and already owns 49% of it.
Growth and Future Plans
As of May, OpenAI's annualized sales were roughly $3.4 billion. The number of users across ChatGPT Enterprise, Teams, and Edu has surpassed 1 million. The company plans to introduce new premium subscription models, costing up to $2,000 per month for its large language models, including 'Strawberry' and 'Orion'.
AI startups continue to attract significant investments. Former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever has raised $1 billion for a new AI startup focused on developing safe AI.
