Animoca Brands’ subsidiary and gaming division, GAMEE, has secured an investment from California-based venture capital firm Pantera Capital, according to a statement released today, August 21.
Pantera Capital’s Investment in GAMEE
Though the funding amount was not revealed, the investment is intended to support GAMEE’s expansion on The Open Network (TON) through WatBird, a Telegram-based app.
Expansion Across Blockchains
The funding is also aimed at expanding GAMEE’s presence across various blockchain networks, marking a significant step in its growth within the blockchain gaming industry.
Mission and Support from TON
GAMEE co-founder Bozena Rezab hailed the investment as a “significant vote of confidence” in their mission to integrate web3 mechanics into their gaming experiences, which currently serve a community of 90 million gamers. According to Rezab, “This support will help us accelerate our mission to strengthen the community’s engagement with the TON ecosystem.”
For Pantera Capital, this investment reflects its continued commitment to The Open Network (TON). In May, Pantera made its “largest investment ever” in TON, highlighting its confidence in the network’s potential to bring cryptocurrency to mainstream users, mainly through its integration with Telegram.
