PayPal announced the launch of PayPal World, a new platform for cross-border payments that will connect major digital wallets and payment systems globally.
PayPal World Platform and Its Features
PayPal World will facilitate interoperability between different digital wallets, allowing users to make international transfers using their preferred domestic payment apps.
The platform offers an innovative infrastructure to simplify international transactions using real-time global payment technologies and open commerce APIs.
Partners and Their Role in the New Project
The initial partners include major international payment systems from India, China, Latin America, and the United States. Companies like NPCI International Payments Limited and Tenpay Global represent significant payment ecosystems and will expand their global presence through collaboration with PayPal.
Osvaldo Gimenez, CEO of Mercado Pago, noted that this partnership streamlines cross-border commerce.
PayPal and Venmo Integration: A New Era for Users
With the launch of PayPal World, Venmo users will be able to shop at international merchants accepting PayPal starting in 2026. This integration allows Venmo to expand its presence beyond the United States.
Alex Chriss, PayPal's President and CEO, stated: "There has never been an interoperable global network that connects wallets together until now."
While specific launch dates and regions remain undisclosed, PayPal World aims to transform the approach to international payments, making them more accessible for millions of users worldwide.
