In the midst of challenges within the NFT market, a user became a victim of a phishing scam, losing 6 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs, 40 Beanz NFTs, and 3 Elementals valued at $240,000. The scam, orchestrated by an unknown party, exploited vulnerabilities in the Blur marketplace to execute unauthorized private sales. The incident was revealed by Quit, a Solidity developer and auditor, on the X platform. Quit detailed how the victim inadvertently priced their entire NFT collection—comprising BAYC, Beanz, and Elementals—at a negligible amount of 1 Wei to a deceptive buyer on the Blur marketplace. At the time of the report, Ethereum was valued at $3,300.68, experiencing a slight decrease. The scammer's tactics included bypassing Blur Marketplace's policies by enticing users to list their NFTs at inflated prices, manipulating the platform's system for private transactions and royalty modifications. This maneuver resulted in the unauthorized transfer of the victim's assets to the scammer, nullifying any legitimate payments and rendering the sales private. The scam also involved redirecting the victim to fraudulent websites through fabricated social media accounts. BAYC, Beanz, and Elementals, distinctive NFT projects, maintain their positions in the market. BAYC, established in April 2021 on the Ethereum blockchain, is valued at a floor price of 10.48 ETH, while Beanz, launched in March 2022, trades at 0.2169 ETH on OpenSea. Azuki Elementals, themed around Anime, sustains a floor price of 0.39 ETH and a total volume of 41,811 ETH. The recent scam on Blur marketplace acts as a stark reminder for the NFT community to exercise caution, emphasizing the significance of secure trading practices. Despite the setback, NFTs like BAYC and Beanz continue to attract interest, indicating their enduring popularity in the blockchain arena.
