The Pi Network recently concluded its official 'Pi2Day Progress to Open Network Challenge' that took place between June 28 and July 11, 2024. The challenge focused on specific actions essential for the ecosystem to achieve its 'Open Network Goals'. Participants were required to complete various tasks like submitting a KYC application, engaging with the new 'Social Profile', exploring the 'Wallet Lockups', and joining the Fireside Forum #PiMusic festival. According to an official blog post, the Progress to Open Network Challenge aimed to infuse some enjoyment into daily routines, highlight new programs and features, and most importantly, facilitate progress towards the Open Network goals.
After the conclusion of the challenge, a recent article provided an overview of the results. The level of participation in the challenge was remarkable, with 4.5 million 'Pioneers' taking part, and 1.4 million users successfully fulfilling all challenge requirements. The introduction of the Pi Social Profiles feature during the event resulted in 2.4 million new profile setups, a number that has likely increased post the Pi2Day recap.
Moreover, the #PiMusic Fireside Forum festival also gained considerable attention, with nearly 100,000 submissions showcased on the forum. The Pi community's creativity and passion were evident through these submissions, hinting at a forthcoming display of the top entries in both #PiMusic and #Photography categories.
The official blog post commended the engagement within the Pi ecosystem, both during the recent challenge and on a daily basis. It also alluded to the project's upcoming transition to the 'Open Network' phase expected in 2024, contingent on meeting specific conditions detailed in a previous post. However, the exact date for this anticipated transition remains undisclosed.
