Plasma, a new blockchain platform designed exclusively for stablecoins, has announced the appointment of three new senior executives as it prepares for its mainnet launch.
New Appointments at Plasma
According to an announcement on X, Plasma has hired Murat Firat as head of product, Adam Jacobs as head of global payments, and Usmann Khan as head of protocol security. "At Plasma, we are building vertically integrated infrastructure and products for stablecoin payments," Firat noted.
Company Plans and Mainnet Features
While Plasma has not disclosed a mainnet launch date, it is known that the network will feature special capabilities for stablecoins. It is expected to process over 1,000 transactions per second and offer confidential transactions. Plasma will also allow custom gas tokens and enable zero-fee transfers for USDT through an in-protocol paymaster.
New Executives' Experience and Ties with Tether
The new executives bring varied experience to the project. Firat previously founded BiLira, a Turkish crypto exchange and stablecoin issuer, Jacobs worked as global head of payments at FTX, and Khan was recognized as a leading security researcher on the ImmuneFi platform. Plasma has close ties with Tether, with Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino listed on the company's cap table.
The recruitment of new leadership and the ambitious plans for the mainnet launch emphasize Plasma's aspirations to become a significant player in the stablecoin market.
