Described as a versatile protocol for evolution, Ethereum (ETH) developers are now focusing on launching layer-3 blockchain networks. Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron expressed disapproval of this direction, suggesting that L3s may not be the ideal way to scale Ethereum properly.

In a public statement, Marc Boiron made it clear that Polygon Labs will not be participating in developing a layer-3 solution. While acknowledging Polygon as a layer-2 scaling solution on Ethereum, Boiron believes that further developments in L3s might negatively impact Ethereum's value.

According to Boiron, L3s are designed to move value away from Ethereum and onto the L2s where they are built. He emphasized that L3s are unnecessary for scaling and that Polygon Labs will not be involved in such projects.

Despite this view, some community members disagreed with Boiron's stance, pointing out that Polygon does support L3 projects like Orbs, Lens, and Bonsai. In response, Boiron explained that while anyone can build on Polygon's innovations, it is important to share the benefits with Ethereum.

Polygon, as a leading layer-2 protocol on Ethereum, has introduced several groundbreaking innovations, including the Polygon zkEVM protocol. Additionally, the Polygon CDK engine has been instrumental in powering projects like Lumoz’s StableNet.
