Polyhedra has announced a new partnership with Flare Networks aimed at improving cross-chain security through zk-proofs. This collaboration involves the integration of Flare and Polyhedra’s zkBridge DVN.
Enhancing Security with zkSNARKs
According to Hugo Philion, co-founder of Flare, the integration of Polyhedra’s zkBridge adds another layer of security to LayerZero’s interoperability protocol. He noted that this step demonstrates the value of zk-technology and the support for Flare from cross-chain protocols. zkBridge employs zkSNARKs to securely transmit and verify block headers and consensus across blockchains, allowing faster proof creation and reducing verification costs.
zkLightClient Technology and Cost Reduction
Polyhedra’s zkLightClient technology significantly decreases on-chain verification costs and latency by efficiently batching numerous transaction verifications into a single proof. This solution enables on-chain light clients to validate events on their chain and send them to the destination chain. Decentralized applications on Flare can use zkBridge to access data from other networks, enabling the development of robust cross-chain financial applications for DeFi such as trading, perpetual contracts, and prediction markets.
Integration with Stargate Finance
The integration of zkBridge enhances the LayerZero communications protocol’s security and eases the flow of data and assets to Flare, which has achieved significant total value locked (TVL). Previously, Flare integrated Stargate Finance, enabling seamless liquidity transfer across more than 25 blockchains.
The partnership between Polyhedra and Flare highlights significant advancements in improving cross-chain security and simplifying data and asset transfers between blockchains. These innovations underscore the potential of zk-technologies and strengthen Flare’s market position.
