The Qubic community, a project combining artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency, has chosen Dogecoin as its next target after claiming control over the Monero network.
Qubic Community's Decision
The vote initiated by Qubic's founder Sergey Ivancheglo, known as 'Come-from-Beyond,' determined which proof-of-work blockchain should face the next 51% attack. The options included Dogecoin, Zcash, and Kaspa, with Dogecoin winning by a significant margin, collecting more than 300 votes.
Attack on Monero
Qubic recently confirmed its successful attack on Monero by seizing control of the majority of the network's hashrate. This success followed a month-long competition with other miners, resulting in the reorganization of six blocks. After the takeover, Qubic stated that Monero's core features, such as privacy protections and usability, remained intact, but this claim has raised concerns within the crypto community.
Future of Cryptocurrency Security
With Dogecoin now selected as Qubic's next target, discussions have arisen regarding the future security of proof-of-work cryptocurrencies. The success against Monero questions whether other mining-based blockchains can maintain their perceived security.
Qubic's designation of Dogecoin as its next target raises critical questions about the security of proof-of-work cryptocurrencies and the nature of threats they may face.
