Comparison of Recent Terra Classic Token Burns
Binance recently conducted a massive burn of Terra Classic (LUNC) tokens, removing 1.15 billion tokens from circulation. This burn, carried out on August 1, involved transferring tokens from a specific wallet to a dead address to manage the large supply of Terra Classic effectively.
The transaction was identified and documented by the community-based tracking service Luncmetrics. Despite this significant token burn, there was minimal impact on the market value of LUNC as the token's trading price experienced a decline.
This latest burn is noteworthy as it equals half of the total transaction fees earned from LUNC trading on Binance throughout July. Following Binance's decision to burn 50% of the collected trading fees from LUNC transactions monthly, this continuous strategy reflects a proactive approach to token supply management.
Contrasting the previous month's burn of 1.7 billion tokens, the reduction in the number of tokens burned in August may suggest fluctuations in trading volume or deliberate adjustments in the burn rate. Since May 2022, Binance has successfully burned over 63 billion LUNC tokens, accounting for approximately half of the total tokens eliminated from Terra Classic's excess token supply.
Additionally, within the Terra Classic community, an extra 1,000,000 LUNC tokens were burned recently, with TerraCasino_io contributing to this initiative. The burn event was recorded by Luncmetrics, highlighting the collective efforts to reduce the supply of LUNC tokens.
The overall count of burned LUNC tokens has now reached 128,337,956,770. These community-driven burns complement the significant burns conducted by exchanges such as Binance, showcasing the collaborative token supply management approach.
Market Impact and Token Circulation
Despite the substantial burning by Binance, Terra Classic still maintains a substantial circulating supply of over 5.44 trillion LUNC tokens. This high supply continues to influence the market value of LUNC, evident in the token's price hovering around $000007393 at present, reflecting a 2.8% decline in the last day.
Previous significant burns, including the removal of 4.17 billion tokens in April and a record 5.5 billion in January, failed to sustainably boost the price of LUNC tokens in the market.
Binance Whale Activity and Market Movements
In a related market development, a large holder moved 400 billion PEPE tokens to Binance, leading to a 4.25% price drop for PEPE in the last 24 hours. This movement aligns with the wider market trend affecting meme coins, with PEPE prices plummeting by 20.72% in the previous week.
Despite Binance's continued efforts to reduce Terra Classic's token supply through burns, the market has not experienced significant shifts in LUNC trading dynamics. The latest burns have highlighted the challenges faced by Terra Classic despite these strategic actions by Binance.
