Samsung has unveiled new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in Brooklyn. These devices promise to revolutionize the market with modern technology and increasing integration of artificial intelligence.
Technical Specifications and Design of the New Line
The Galaxy Z Fold7 weighs only 215 grams and measures 8.9 mm in thickness when folded. Its main 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is 11% larger than its predecessor, while the 6.5-inch external display has been enhanced for convenience.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE also offer an attractive design and features. The Flip7 boasts a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a brightness of 2,600 nits and a 120 Hz refresh rate, along with a 4,300 mAh battery – the most powerful in the Flip series.
Integration of Artificial Intelligence
The second-generation devices integrate Galaxy AI, optimized for foldable formats through One UI 8, built on Android 16. This allows users to perform tasks more quickly using voice, text, and visual interaction.
For example, the screen-sharing feature with Gemini Live lets users display content on the multi-window display and request design advice in real time. The upgraded 200MP camera of the Fold7 enables higher-detail photography, while AI assists in editing.
Market Impact and Accessibility
Samsung is also emphasizing accessibility by releasing the Z Flip7 FE at a price of $899, making foldable smartphones more reachable for a wider audience.
IDC analysis has also confirmed the popularity of foldable models among younger demographics. The primary Z Fold7 model is targeted at the price segment from £1,799 to £2,149, making it available to a more limited user base. Pre-orders started on July 9, with an official market release on July 25.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 series represent an important step in the evolution of foldable smartphones, utilizing innovations, designs, and artificial intelligence to make this technology more practical and accessible.
