In response to a proposal suggesting Ripple donate a significant amount of XRP to XRPL Foundation, David Schwartz, Ripple's CTO, expressed concerns. The proposal came from Panos Mekras, who believes that transferring XRP tokens from Ripple's escrow to XRPLF would benefit the XRP community.
Mekras recommended that XRPLF oversee the allocation of the donated XRP for initiatives like grants, marketing, and educational campaigns to support the XRP ecosystem. He also pointed out that Ripple's current holding of more than 10 billion XRP might no longer be necessary, especially since the firm reportedly holds 40.1 billion XRP.
However, Schwartz stated that implementing the donation proposal is not viable due to responsible usage concerns. He emphasized that a straightforward transfer of such a large amount of XRP might not be the best course of action.
