Ripple: XRP Escrow Releases Occur on the First of Each Month

In a recent tweet, Ripple's CTO David Schwartz addressed questions regarding the timing of XRP escrow releases, refuting claims of random dates.

Question About XRP Escrow Release Dates

An X user pointed out that in recent months, XRP escrow release dates appeared random, contrasting with the typical first of the month. As an example, he mentioned the recent release of 1 billion XRP reported by the blockchain data tracker Whale Alert.

Response from David Schwartz

Schwartz explained that escrows always release on the first of the month. He added that even if an escrow is released, the XRP Ledger does not automatically reflect this until a transaction is submitted to trigger it, dispelling rumors that Ripple might manipulate the escrow contract.

They always release on the first day of the month. You may not necessarily see any on ledger activity just because the escrow has released though. The ledger doesn't do anything by itself, it always waits for someone to submit a transaction to trigger it.David 'JoelKatz' Schwartz
