Telecom Egypt and SubCom have completed the landings of the SEA-ME-WE-6 submarine cable in Egypt, marking an important milestone in global internet connectivity.

Cable Landings in Egypt

The landings were completed on July 2, 2025, in the port cities of Port Said and Ras Ghareb. This 21,700-kilometer cable connects 17 landing points across three continents, significantly improving internet connectivity between Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The SEA-ME-WE-6, the sixth iteration of the SEA-ME-WE cable family, provides a dense connection from Singapore to Marseille. With a design capacity of 126 terabits per second, the cable utilizes advanced Space Division Multiplexing technology.
