Shenzhen, China's special economic zone bordering Hong Kong, is gearing up to boost digital RMB adoption, mirroring similar efforts in Hong Kong SAR.
Digital Finance Support Program
The Shenzhen Local Financial Management Bureau is seeking public feedback on a plan to support digital finance, as reported by local blockchain media outlet JinSe Finance. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), JinSe Finance highlighted that the Shenzhen Local Financial Management Bureau publicly solicited opinions on the 'Implementation Opinions of Shenzhen on Supporting the High-quality Development of Digital Finance.'
Cooperation with Hong Kong
Shenzhen authorities are working to establish digital RMB application demonstration zones, build digital RMB cross-border payment and international business centers, expand cross-border payment scenarios, and strengthen international exchange and cooperation. Special attention is being focused on partnering with Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Fintech Week.
Internship Program
In addition to digital RMB efforts, Hong Kong and Shenzhen will also debut an internship program aimed at enhancing skills and experience sharing among young professionals in the digital finance sector.
Shenzhen is actively pushing digital RMB following Hong Kong's lead and continues to work on creating conditions for high-quality digital finance development, expanding cross-border payments, and deepening international cooperation.
