The Shiba Inu team, through the account @susbarium, has issued a warning about a new type of scam affecting not just the SHIB army but the wider crypto community.
Fraud Through Fake Bitget Emails
A recent tweet from @susbarium alerted users to a fake email from 'Bidget Web3' offering BWB airdrop points. These emails are scams.
Identifying the Scam
@susbarium noted several telling signs of fraudulent emails. Scammers often use phrases like 'Secure early airdrop points' and 'Multichain gas fee coverage'. There's also a risky link labeled 'claim airdrop'. Additional signs of fraud include greetings such as 'Hello Valued Customer' and the sender address 'noreply@resova.com'.
SHIB Token Burns Surge
According to data from the wallet tracking service Shibburn, the SHIB community has achieved a remarkable 2,204% increase in token burns over the past 24 hours. This was possible due to the transfer of 3,579,805 SHIB to unspendable wallets, raising the total burned tokens since early 2020 to 410,751,445,214,265 SHIB.
The SHIB community is urged to remain vigilant regarding investment and airdrop offers and to verify information through official channels.
