Solana (SOL) is aiming to be included in a spot Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has a deadline set for mid-March 2025 to review ETF applications. The cryptocurrency Solana is currently maintaining its market position around the $140 mark amidst positive market conditions.
Solana, known by its ticker symbol SOL, is aspiring to join the select group of assets in line for a dedicated spot Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). This development represents a significant opportunity for Solana, which has faced challenges in recent weeks regarding its price recovery.
Solana's Path Towards a Spot ETF
There is growing anticipation for a potential surge in Solana's price as anticipation surrounding the token continues to build. The recent filing of a spot ETF application by VanEck in partnership with the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) has triggered this optimism.
In the footsteps of VanEck, 21Shares has also lodged an application for a spot ETF. However, the fate of these applications rests with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), mandated to deliver a decision by mid-March 2025.
The odds of an alternative cryptocurrency like Solana securing approval for a spot ETF besides Ethereum seem slim, given the possibility of a flood of ETF applications from various crypto assets. Nevertheless, Ethereum's approval has set a precedent for other altcoins, a milestone that was once deemed improbable.
This potential development could lead to significant growth for Solana, as evidenced by the recent bullish trend on the altcoin's Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator, indicating a strengthening bullish trend in the market.
Solana's current price, hovering around $140, is rebounding from the $126 support level, a level it has tested multiple times over the past few months. The next target for SOL is to surpass and solidify the $150 mark as a support level.
If successful, this breakthrough could open the door for further growth, allowing Solana to convert the crucial resistance at $156 into a sustained support level and potentially recover previous losses.
