Sony announced the launch of Soneium Score, evaluating user activity on the blockchain. The new system aims to address issues in Web3.
Goals of the Soneium Score System
Soneium Score assesses users based on their blockchain activity, including staking, token swaps, and NFT transactions. The system evaluates four main categories: daily streaks, liquidity provision, NFT holdings, and bonus tasks linked to featured ecosystem partners. The goal is to tackle two common challenges in Web3: the lack of a consistent way to measure user reputation and the difficulty projects face in sustaining engagement.
Season One with Ecosystem Partners
The first season launches in collaboration with a group of DeFi, gaming, and NFT projects, giving users immediate opportunities to build reputations while earning rewards. Soneium stated that collaborating with prominent ecosystem partners will provide users with new avenues to explore their potential.
Development and Features of Soneium
Soneium is an Ethereum Layer-2 developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Startale Labs. The network went live in January 2023 following a test phase that saw more than 14 million wallets participate. The Soneium Score function adds a new layer of gamification and identity-building to the blockchain, which seems timely given the growing popularity of activity scoring systems.
The new Soneium reputation system from Sony offers blockchain participants unique opportunities to enhance their status and engagement, thereby striving for more sustainable relationships in the Web3 space.
