Sony, the Japanese tech giant, has announced the launch of a new blockchain, Soneium. This project, part of the growing trend towards decentralized products, will soon go live on the testnet.

Sony Block Solutions and Startale Labs Partnership

Sony Block Solutions Labs is a partnership between Sony Group and the Singapore-based company Startale Labs. On Friday, these companies confirmed the launch of the new L2 network Soneium on the Ethereum base.

Optimistic Rollup and OP Stack Technologies

The new Soneium network will utilize optimistic rollup technology. This L2 solution relies on the security and stability of the parent blockchain network, Ethereum, using its consensus mechanism instead of creating its own. Soneium boosts blockchain scalability by processing transactions off-chain, allowing users to transact on Ethereum at lower costs.

Plans for Integrating Sony Products

Soneium plans to onboard Sony products like Sony Music within the next two years. This will enable the creation of decentralized applications and services on the new L2 network.

The launch of Soneium highlights the growing focus on blockchain technology and the desire of major companies to create decentralized solutions to enhance their products and services.
