Starlink has commenced its services in Zimbabwe three months after securing a license from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Starlink Services Launch in Zimbabwe
Starlink's official handle announced on social media that their high-speed, low-latency internet is now available in Zimbabwe. The hardware will cost $350, $24 for shipping, Starlink Mini for $200, and about $50 for the monthly subscription.
Starlink Internet Service in Africa
Starlink's launch in Zimbabwe follows their recent expansions in Botswana and 16 other African countries, including South Sudan and Ghana. The company now operates in over 107 countries globally.
Challenges in South Africa
South Africa remains one of the few countries without an estimated service start date. Reports from April indicated that Starlink would not operate in South Africa due to the company's refusal to meet local ownership requirements and a lack of license application to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa).
While Starlink continues to expand its services across multiple African nations, the company faces regulatory hurdles in regions like South Africa.
