Stripe Introduces Support for USDC Payments on Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon

Apr 27, 2024

Stripe has revealed plans to allow merchants to receive funds in the form of the USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin. According to Collison, transactions made with USDC will settle on-chain and convert to fiat instantly, with this service expected to launch in the summer. Businesses leveraging this technology can now accept payments in USDC, providing a secure and efficient payment option for global transactions. The integration of USDC is set to enhance the payment experience for customers and expand merchants' reach. Stripe will initially support USDC transactions on Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon networks, with more network compatibility to be announced later. This marks Stripe's return to the crypto domain after initially accepting Bitcoin payments in 2014 and discontinuing its services in 2018. Despite challenges faced in the past, Stripe remains optimistic about the potential of cryptocurrencies.
