The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) of Nigeria has approved 16 tech companies to assist taxpayers in transitioning to the new e-invoicing system launched on August 1.
Approved Companies
During a presentation by FIRS' Acting Director of Tax Automation Mike Adoga in Lagos, it was announced that the companies were accredited by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Some of the approved companies include:
- Remita Payment Limited - Pascal Technology Limited - Hoptool Technology Limited - Etranzact International Plc - Telepac Africa Nigeria Limited - Cryptware System Limited - Namiri Technology Nigeria Limited - Ace of Spedes Consult Nigeria Limited - Jureb Business Solutions Limited - Qucoon Limited - Courteville Business Solutions - Softrust Technologies Limited - Westmetro Limited - Arca Payments Company Limited.
Options for Taxpayers
Adoga emphasized that taxpayers are free to choose any approved company and can switch if they are not satisfied with the services provided. Taxpayers can also report any breaches or issues experienced when dealing with these companies. The FIRS will promptly delist any service providers that violate established regulations and standards.
E-Invoicing in Action
The e-invoicing solution, also known as the Merchant-Buyer Solution (MBS), aims to simplify tax compliance. Since its launch on August 1, over 1,000 companies have registered on the platform, representing 20% of the expected 5,000 organizations. MTN Nigeria was the first taxpayer to transmit electronic invoices to the FIRS.
FIRS is actively pursuing the implementation of the electronic invoicing system, offering taxpayers new avenues to simplify their obligations, while the registration process for companies continues with updated timelines for adaptation.
