In the recent announcement, Telegram disclosed that users can now buy in-platform ads with Toncoin. The new feature is in line with the app's updated user monetization regulations, where 50% of the revenue from ads displayed in public Telegram channels goes to their owners.

As stated in the official announcement, this revenue-sharing system is considered one of the most generous among social media platforms.

The data indicates that Telegram is amassing over 1 trillion monthly views in channels. Starting today, owners of public channels with a minimum of 1,000 subscribers are eligible to receive 50% of the revenue generated from ads shown in their channels.

Channel owners are now able to withdraw their earnings without incurring any fees. Moreover, they have the choice to either reinvest the profits in Telegram ads, collectible usernames, or Premium giveaways.

Introduction of TON-based Ads

Telegram is introducing a new category of ads that users can obtain using Toncoins, which is a cryptocurrency powered by the TON Blockchain.

The decision to utilize the TON Blockchain was driven by its low fees, rapid transaction speed, and remarkable record for the number of transactions per second.

Henceforth, it is possible for anyone to promote their bot or channel, with creators retaining full authority over their content selection, allowing them to choose the exact channels in which they want to be featured.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov made a statement regarding this update through his personal channel last month, mentioning that this move will establish a beneficial cycle where content creators have the option to cash out their Toncoins or reinvest them in the promotion and enhancement of their channels.
