Renowned for its robust privacy attributes and intuitive operation, the well-known messaging application Telegram has embraced the Web3 domain with a significant update. Telegram recently introduced a state-of-the-art in-app browser named 'TON Sites,' tailored to support decentralized websites. This release will enable Telegram's extensive user base of nearly 950 million individuals to conveniently access Web3 technology, facilitating direct interaction with decentralized websites within the app.

Recent Innovations in the Application

The newly launched in-app browser is compatible with both mobile and desktop platforms, facilitating a seamless transition between messaging and browsing functions for users. The incorporation of Web3 technology in Telegram's platform signals a significant advancement that simplifies the utilization of decentralized web browsing for millions of users. Pavel Durov, Telegram's CEO, stressed the importance of this feature, emphasizing how it seamlessly merges communication with web browsing, empowering users to establish their personal web servers and host websites on the Open Network (TON).

Alongside the in-app browser, Telegram has also unveiled a Mini App Store offering a variety of applications for direct interaction within the Telegram app. A noteworthy addition includes the ability to send 'Stars,' Mini App payment units, to associates. Telegram disclosed that over 500 million users engage with Mini Apps on a monthly basis, underscoring their robust integration and popularity within the platform.

Success Narratives of Two Popular Applications and Value Surge

The success of two notable applications on Telegram, Hamster Kombat and Catizen, illustrates the burgeoning adoption of cryptocurrency within the platform. Hamster Kombat, a touch-to-win gaming sensation, captured the interest of an impressive 300 million players within a span of just four months, making it the third fastest app to attain 150 million users.

In parallel, Catizen, a Web3 social entertainment platform, swiftly garnered 26 million users since its debut in March and generated $16 million through in-app transactions. Significantly, a portion of these earnings was allocated to supporting street cats, underscoring the app's dedication to social causes.

Both Hamster Kombat and Catizen utilize Toncoin (TON), the primary cryptocurrency of The Open Network. Over the past year, the value of Toncoin has surged by 467%, peaking at $6.78. This surge in value reflects the increasing acceptance and utilization of TON within the Telegram ecosystem.
