The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has announced significant changes in its structure, including new roles for its founders and staff layoffs.
New Roles for Founders
Founders Arthur Madrid and Sebastien Borget have transitioned to new strategic roles. Madrid has become the chairman, while Borget now serves as the global ambassador, representing the company at international events. "Both remain deeply involved in The Sandbox and its ecosystem," Borget stated.
Staff Layoffs and Optimization
As part of the restructuring, The Sandbox confirmed staff layoffs, although specific numbers were not disclosed. Borget mentioned that "as The Sandbox matures, we are continuously optimizing our operations for maximum efficiency." A key part of this strategy involves implementing artificial intelligence technologies.
Future Initiatives and Company Plans
Borget confirmed potential plans for launching memecoins based on the Coinbase Layer-2 network. He emphasized that The Sandbox and Animoca Brands remain committed to empowering creators and developing their token economy. "The Sandbox's virtual assets, including the $SAND tokens and NFTs, remain unchanged," he added.
The restructuring of The Sandbox highlights the company's commitment to adapt to new technological realities and optimize its operations while maintaining core values and assets.
