Currently, many financial institutions worldwide are actively transitioning to the ISO 20022 standard, which represents a unified messaging format. This shift opens new opportunities for digital assets like XRP and XLM.

Shift of Financial Institutions to ISO 20022

According to SMQKE, the ISO 20022 standard has already been integrated into all SEPA transactions. The U.S. Federal Reserve is urging banks to adapt before the planned ISO 20022 upgrade in Fedwire this July. SWIFT also assures that it will fully migrate to the new standard by November.

ISO 20022 allows for detailed and structured financial messaging, enhancing transparency and efficiency in cross-border transactions. Due to outdated bank infrastructure, the interest in digital assets capable of operating in ISO-compatible environments is significantly expanding.

Blockchain Integration Through Stronghold

Stronghold, a blockchain payment company, is actively integrating the ISO 20022 standard into its real-world operations. A representative from the company confirmed that ISO 20022 messaging is being used alongside blockchain ledger payments in pilot projects. The main goal is to improve the reliability and performance of financial services by combining regulated messaging formats with modern blockchain tools.

Stronghold’s founder and CEO, Tammy Camp, emphasized that the company’s infrastructure allows fiat currencies to flow through Ripple, Stellar, and Interledger protocols, linking traditional finance systems with digital ledgers.

Future Prospects for Digital Assets

With financial institutions moving away from old models, the demand for ISO-compliant digital assets is increasing. Analysts suggest that XRP will take a leading role, as it aligns with institutional interests and has integration capabilities. As ISO 20022 becomes the global standard for financial messaging, digital assets like XRP and XLM are taking center stage as they are fast, compatible, and represent strong candidates for the future of regulated digital payments.

The transition to the ISO 20022 standard opens new horizons for digital assets, potentially changing the future of the financial system. XRP and XLM are becoming key players in this process by offering solutions that meet modern requirements.
