Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has once again made headlines by selling memecoins for over $139,000. According to Lookonchain, Buterin exchanged some free memecoins he received for Ethereum and USDC.

Memecoin sales are likely routed to charitable causes

This transaction is part of a long history of charitable actions by the Ethereum creator. Last year in October, Buterin amassed 1,101 ETH through memecoin sales, donating 360.16 ETH to various charitable causes. Tokens involved included 10 billion MOODENG.

Vitalik Buterin urges the community to stop sending him memecoins

Buterin has repeatedly asked developers to stop sending him memecoins, explaining that any such funds are donated to charity. He also suggested that memecoin creators directly engage in charitable actions or create decentralized autonomous organizations.

Support for Tornado Cash developer’s legal turmoil

In his charitable efforts, Buterin supported Roman Storm, a developer from the Tornado Cash project facing legal challenges. Buterin donated 50 ETH for Storm's legal defense, who faces money laundering charges.

Through his efforts to support charities and assist individuals in the crypto community, Vitalik Buterin continues to manifest his beliefs about the importance of creating positive impacts in the world.
